Pakistan cricket’s high-performance consultant Mike Hesson has addressed the surprising decision to leave star batter Babar Azam out of the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh.
The move raised eyebrows among fans and experts, but Hesson clarified that the decision was part of a broader long-term strategy rather than a reflection of Babar’s form or value to the team.
According to Hesson, the team management wants to experiment with different combinations and evaluate the middle order in situations where Babar is not present to stabilize the innings. With a busy international calendar leading up to the 2027 World Cup, Pakistan’s coaching staff believes this approach will help strengthen the squad depth.
Hesson also emphasized that Babar remains a central figure in Pakistan cricket and is expected to return for future assignments as the team continues its preparations for upcoming global tournaments.
