Alexei Kervezee, a talented Namibian-born Dutch cricketer, achieved recognition at a young age and in July 2005, aged only 15, he made his first-class debut against Scotland in the Intercontinental Cup. Later in April 2006, he played his first List A match, for Netherlands A against India A and Pakistan A at Abu Dhabi. Not soon after, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka and made 47. He played in the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies for Netherlands aged just 17, one of the only five players to have appeared in the tournament at such a young age.
In September 2007, he was signed up by Worcestershire to play county cricket on a two-year contract. He worked hard to get noticed for the next two years and scored his first half-century for the club in June 2009 when he made 66 in the second innings of the game against Durham. He scored 381 runs in 8 games. But, he came of age in the season after that when in 2010 he scored 1190 runs at 44.07, including three tons; followed by 800 runs in 2011. Although , he played the 2011 World Cup in India, it was not quite a memorable one for him.
